The owner of Marine Horizons Inc., David Bouder, had always had an interest in the underwater world. It was not until recent times that he pursued that interest any further then the surface. He was given the opportunity to take up SCUBA diving and the rest as they say is history. Since being certified as an open water diver he has been consumed with a thirst for knowledge and experience as a diver. He bought his first set of equipment before his certification class was complete. Ever since then it seems that he is always taking a class or adding a piece of SCUBA gear to better facilitate his ability to pursue his love of the sport. He had done photography as a hobby since high school. It was only natural that he brought his hobby along as he dove. As before, he purchased a housing for his land based camera before his certification dives were done.
Since his certification he has averaged over a hundred dives a year. He dives extensively along the eastern coast of the United States and Canada. He has traveled to many of the Caribbean islands. His favorite islands to go to are Bonaire and Turks and Caicos. He holds a special affinity for Turks and Caicos as that is were he completed his Inspiration rebreather course. The wall diving there is incredible with many encounters with large animals. He has developed many special friendships with the people that live on the island. Learn more about Turks and Caicos trips on the travel page. He teaches and travels as often as he can. In the summer of 2003 he was a member of Tanya Streeter’s safety dive team when she broke the men’s and woman’s record for variable weight freediving to a depth of 401 FEET!!!! It seems as though David is more comfortable underwater then on land.
You will often find him at Aqua Ventures in Cockeysville, MD. He is an advanced open water instructor for them and does the equipment repairs. Recreational diving courses will be offered through Aqua Ventures. To find out more about them check out there site from the links page. To see his current diver and instructor certifications follow the link to his resume page. He is actively teaching and adding courses to offer so check back if you don’t see a course you are interested in listed. We will also be running technical diving training trips to exotic locations so you can take the course offered with him or another instructor he is partnering with. See the Travel or Technical Training page for more information.
As he evolved as a diver he began to take up technical diver training as a way to expand his knowledge and experience. After taking a few tech courses he was about to purchase several sets of doubles and stage bottles to pursue his interest in tech diving when a friend and instructor showed him the inspiration rebreather. That put an end to the doubles order. He went on to take the Inspiration rebreather course and purchased a unit instead of the twins. He noticed as an Inspiration diver that it was not as convenient as it could be for a rebreather diver to dive their units. Most dive shops are set up well for Open Circuit SCUBA divers but not for a rebreather diver. As an instructor he was taught that removing barriers for his students is the best way to produce safe and comfortable divers. So the idea was formulated for this company, Marine Horizons Inc. We want to remove as many barriers to rebreather divers as possible. We will make training accessible, travel available, and make as many disposable supplies easy to find and as affordable as possible.
